Kia Ora my name is Emma Burman.
My husband and I have been living in this friendly community for several years now and have two children, one of which attends Te Ao Mārama School.
My professional background is in the education sector where I have 15 years experience teaching in Early Childhood centres. My current role is Team Leader of the preschool room at Borman Village Kids which is located opposite the school. I am in the unique position to be working closely with the Pūkeko room on transitions to school and we have the senior, Kāhu class visit our centre weekly so I am actively involved with the school and have developed relationships with many of the staff and children.
I am an educator who is passionate about providing an environment that educates children through high quality play-based, hands on experiences. Using students interests and passions to drive their learning is a key teaching strategy for successful learning outcomes for our children. The innovative learning environment that Te Ao Mārama provides is outstanding and I truly believe in the philosophy of teaching and learning which our school embodies. I will relish the opportunity to contribute my knowledge and experience to the governance of Te Ao Mārama.
I have strong experience with strategic planning and internal review with the aim of improving outcomes for diverse learners. I also have strong experience in mentoring, recruitment and working collaboratively. I am very organised, dedicated to whatever I put my mind to and I have high expectations of achievement.
I am honoured to be on the board of trustees and to contribute to the governance of our wonderful school.
