Kia ora, Namaste & Ahlan.
My name is Rithu Mathew, of Indian origin, born and raised in Doha, Qatar (Middle East), with New Zealand as my home since 2002.
I am a Chartered Accountant and a board member of the Waikato Leadership Team of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and NZ.
My involvement with the school started from September 2018 during the final phase of the school building construction. My relationship to the school is through my work. I work for Spotless Facility Services (NZ) Limited, as the Finance Manager for the Facility Management contract between the Ministry and Spotless. We help support and look after the school facility. Previous to this role, I have worked as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a NZ private Company and a Chartered Accountant for a public practice firm.
I have one daughter, 5 years of age, who is a student at Te Ao Mārama school. My hobbies include reading, dancing (volunteered to teach Bollywood/Indian dance to our Te Ao Mārama school children which I taught during their flight times in Term 2), running/exercising, playing badminton and connecting with nature.
The reason I applied for the Trustee role came from the deep connection I felt with the school’s beliefs and values. I believe in the school’s vision, their strong leadership, and their collaborative teaching system. I want to support the school leadership team in continuing to achieve their vision and help contribute towards our children’s education. What I bring to the school Board is my cultural diversity, my technical finance knowledge which I gained in the last 9 years, my leadership skills and my on-going relationship with Te Ao Mārama school staff and students.
My soft skills include honesty, integrity, hard work, good communication, good collaboration, goal-oriented outlook and self-discipline.
