George
George, a Golden Retriever, is Te Ao Mārama School’s therapy dog. George currently visits us 3 days per week with the support of Anna Pratt, one of our Deputy Principals.
As a therapy dog, George provides comfort and emotional support to students, helping to create a positive and nurturing school environment.
The presence of therapy dogs like George in schools has been shown to offer numerous benefits. Interacting with therapy dogs can reduce stress and anxiety levels in students, promoting a sense of calm and relaxation. Additionally, therapy dogs contribute to the development of social skills and empathy among students, fostering a supportive and inclusive school community.
